Information We Collect

We collect the information you enter in the request form, technical details about the device and browser you use, and records of your contacts with our support team.

  • Contact details: name, email address, phone number and mailing address.
  • Identity details: date of birth and the identification details lenders need to verify you and check your credit.
  • Financial details: income, employment, housing costs, and bank account information used for funding if you accept an offer.
  • Loan details: the amount you request and the reason for the loan.
  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed and cookie identifiers.
  • Information from others: identity-verification and fraud-prevention results, and updates from lenders about whether a loan was funded.

How We Use and Share Your Information

We use your information to process your loan request, match it with lenders and lending partners, and share it with those lenders and with service providers that help us run the request process.

How we use it

  • To send your request to lenders whose criteria may fit, and to show you any offers.
  • To verify your identity and help prevent fraud.
  • To answer your questions, send updates about your request, and, if you agree, send marketing messages.
  • To improve the site, measure performance, and meet legal and regulatory duties.

Who we share it with

  • Lenders and lending partners in our network, so they can review your request, check your credit, and contact you about an offer. Each lender handles your data under its own privacy policy.
  • Service providers that host the site, verify identity, prevent fraud and deliver emails and texts, under contracts that limit their use of your data.
  • Authorities when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of users and our service.
  • A successor company if our business is merged or sold, subject to this policy.

The same rules apply whether you arrived through an upwise capital search or typed our address directly. The request process overview shows the point at which lenders receive your details.

Your Rights Under Federal and State Law

The federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act requires financial companies to tell you how they share your personal financial information, to protect it, and in some cases to let you limit that sharing.

  • Notice: you have the right to know what we collect and who receives it, which is the purpose of this policy.
  • Limits on sharing: sharing your request with lenders is needed to process it and cannot be switched off while the request is active. You may opt out of sharing for other companies' marketing where the law gives you that right.
  • State rights: depending on your state, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your information and to opt out of targeted advertising. Some financial data covered by federal law is exempt from state privacy laws.
  • Credit decisions: if a lender declines you based on your credit report, federal law requires the lender to tell you and to name the credit bureau it used.

05

How Long We Keep Data and How We Protect It

We keep request information only as long as we need it to process your request, meet legal and record-keeping duties, resolve disputes and prevent fraud, and then we delete or de-identify it.

We protect your data with encryption while it travels between your browser and our servers, access limited to staff and vendors who need it, and contracts that require service providers to safeguard it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we also never ask for your banking passwords or card PIN.

06

Your Choices and Children's Privacy

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails with the link in any message, stop texts by replying STOP, and ask us to access, correct or delete your information where the law gives you that right.

Stopping messages from us does not stop messages from a lender that already received your request; contact that lender directly to change its communications.

Children

Our service is not meant for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and if we learn that we have, we delete it.
