Advertiser & Lending Disclosure

We are a free loan-request service, not a lender. Below is how we earn money, how that can shape the offers you see, and what borrowing can cost.

01

We Are Not a Lender

Our service connects borrowers with lenders and lending partners; we do not make loans, make credit decisions, or set any loan's APR, fees, term, approval or funding time.

The lender named in your offer is the creditor. Its loan agreement and its federal Truth in Lending disclosure, which show the APR, finance charge and total of payments, are the documents that control your loan. If you reached this page while researching upwise capital loan offers, keep in mind that every offer comes from a third-party lender, and each lender decides on its own.

02

How We Earn Money

We receive compensation from lenders and partners in our network, either when we send them a loan request or when a loan they offer is funded, and borrowers never pay us a fee.

  • Per request: some lenders and partners pay us for each request we send them, whether or not a loan results.
  • Per funded loan: others pay us only when a borrower accepts an offer and the loan is funded.
  • Amounts vary: compensation differs from lender to lender and can change over time.
  • No borrower fees: using the request form, receiving offers and declining them are free. We do not add any charge to your loan.
03

How Compensation Can Affect the Offers You See

Compensation can influence which lenders receive your request and the order in which offers appear, so the offers you see may not include every lender or the lowest rate available to you.

Other factors also shape what you see: your state, the amount you request, your credit profile, and each lender's own criteria and capacity on a given day. We do not review every lender or loan product on the market.

Before you accept, compare the APR, fees and total repayment of each offer, and consider checking with your own bank or credit union as well. Our guide to comparing personal loan lenders lists what to look for.

APR Range and Representative Example

APRs offered by lenders in our network typically range from about 5.99% to 35.99%, and some state-licensed installment lenders charge more; your rate depends on the lender, your credit, income, amount, term and state.

Representative example (estimate; no origination fee assumed)

Loan amount$2,000
Repayment term36 months
APR28.84%
Monthly paymentAbout $83.64
Total repaidAbout $3,010.95
Total interestAbout $1,010.95
All APR and payment figures on this site are estimates. Some lenders charge an origination fee, often taken out of the loan amount before it is sent to you, which raises the APR. Repayment terms vary by lender; the examples on our site use terms of 6 to 36 months.

To test other amounts and terms, try the personal loan calculator, and see how personal loan rates are set for the factors behind your APR.

05

State Availability and No Guarantee

Lender participation varies by state, so not every lender, amount or term is available where you live, and sending a request never means you will receive an offer or a loan.

  • State laws set licensing rules and, in some states, limits on loan amounts, terms and rates, so offers can differ for the same borrower in two states.
  • Checking offers through many lenders typically uses a soft credit inquiry first; accepting an offer may lead to a hard inquiry, depending on the lender.
  • Approval, rates, loan amounts and funding times are decided only by lenders and are never assured.
  • You are under no obligation to accept any offer you receive.

Editorial Independence of Our Guides

Our guides, calculators and glossary are written by our editorial team, and lenders do not write, edit or review that content before it is published.

Compensation does not decide what our guides say about a type of loan, a cost or a borrowing strategy. Figures are labeled as estimates, and we correct errors when we find them. You can read about our writers and their standards on the about our service page.
